Child Support and Spousal Support


The Douglas County District Court Trustee's Office is authorized by law to handle matters related to child support and spousal support orders in Douglas County. The office can help with the following matters:
  • Modification of child support orders
  • Establishment of child support orders where paternity has previously been established by court order or in cases where no order for support was entered in the final divorce decree
  • Enforcement of child support orders
  • Enforcement of spousal support orders
  • Routine monitoring of orders for possibility of modification
  • Location of residence and employment of parent owing support
  • Establishment of qualified medical child support orders

Visitation


Matters of visitation enforcement and modification of visitation orders are handled by the Pro Tem Division. Although the Court Trustee does not aid in visitation issues, it has developed two documents that pertain to visitation that individuals without attorneys may use. They are the 'Motion to Appear and Show Cause for Failure to Comply with Parenting Time/Visitation' (PDF format), and the 'Motion to Enforce Parenting Time/Visitation' (PDF format).

Child Custody


When parents are divorced, child custody matters are part of the divorce and are defined in the Parenting Plan. For modifications of a Parenting Plan or for child-custody issues between unmarried parents, advice from an attorney is strongly recommended. The Court Resources page provides links that can help in finding an attorney and other legal assistance.

Abused and Neglected Children


Current cases of abused and neglected children usually are heard in Division 3. However, the particulars of cases are confidential.
