This page contains information on the County High Accuracy Reference Network (CHARN) for Douglas County, Kansas.

The CHARN (County High Accuracy Reference Network) is a network of survey monuments used for horizontal and vertical control. NGS has a national HARN in place, with some of the points located in Douglas County, Kansas. Additional monuments were added throughout Douglas County, and had their coordinates calculated based on the existing HARN points. Presently, there are 22 CHARN points in use by Douglas County, strategically placed so that no matter where you travel in the county, at least one point is in close proximity. Some of our CHARN points have been blue-booked by NGS. Those points, part of the Federal/Cooperative Baseline Network are as follows: DG01, DG03, DG07, DG09, DG19, DG33, and DG35.

In the Douglas County Public Works office, land surveyors, as well as the general public, can find section corner coordinates and ties, aerial photographs of the county, control point and benchmark information, and other types of associated research.
