| Douglas County (KS) is accepting applications for a (3) month pool (December 2011-March 2012) for career oriented Corrections Officers. Successful applicants will work at the Douglas County Jail, a state of the art 186-bed direct supervision facility for adults. Required qualifications include a high school diploma (or G.E.D.), basic word processing and computer skills, good written and oral communication skills. Candidates must pass a background check, written, psychological, and drug testing. A polygraph examination may be required. Shift work mandatory. | Douglas County is accepting applications for a 6 month pool (August 2011-February 2012) for career oriented Communications Officers. The Center operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Essential functions of the job include: gathering, evaluating, prioritizing and documenting information; processing calls, including dispatching calls to the appropriate agencies; maintaining/monitoring radio communications with Police, Fire and EMS personnel; upholding confidentiality of information received; utilizing a multi-screen computer system, two-way radio, phone system, headset, and foot pedals while receiving/processing phone calls. Must pass mandatory background investigation/drug screen and will be required to comply with shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Basic requirements include a high school diploma or G.E.D. |
