CORRECTIONS OFFICERS - Job ID: 11-020
Job Description
Douglas County (KS) is accepting applications for a (3) month pool (December 2011-March 2012) for career oriented Corrections Officers. Successful applicants will work at the Douglas County Jail, a state of the art 186-bed direct supervision facility for adults. Required qualifications include a high school diploma (or G.E.D.), basic word processing and computer skills, good written and oral communication skills. Candidates must pass a background check, written, psychological, and drug testing. A polygraph examination may be required. Shift work mandatory. Emergency Communications Officer ( 911) - Job ID: 11-013
Job Description
Douglas County is accepting applications for a 6 month pool (August 2011-February 2012) for career oriented Communications Officers. The Center operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Essential functions of the job include: gathering, evaluating, prioritizing and documenting information; processing calls, including dispatching calls to the appropriate agencies; maintaining/monitoring radio communications with Police, Fire and EMS personnel; upholding confidentiality of information received; utilizing a multi-screen computer system, two-way radio, phone system, headset, and foot pedals while receiving/processing phone calls. Must pass mandatory background investigation/drug screen and will be required to comply with shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Basic requirements include a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Job Description
Douglas County is accepting applications for a 6-month pool (December 2011 – May 2012) of candidates for Juvenile Detention Corrections Officers. Candidates must be 21 years old with a valid KS driver’s license or the ability to obtain one. Required qualifications include minimum of 3 hrs college coursework, high school diploma or G.E.D., and basic computer skills. Preference given to applicants with human services experience. District Attorney Job Openings


Assistant District Attorney
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Douglas County Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for a Violence Against Women Grant (VAWA) grant funded, full-time Assistant District Attorney. Funding for this position is not guaranteed past December 31, 2012 and continuation of the position past that date is dependant upon successful grant renewal.
Required Qualifications
Must be registered with the Kansas Bar.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in domestic violence work is strongly preferred but not required.
Starting Date
Review begins immediately and it is open until filled.
Starting Salary
Salary $47,500
